Marina Kartal, 20, from Silverton
Graduated June 2014 with an AAS in Human Services Social Work

What were you like as a 12 year old?
I was responsible, hyper, laughed all the time and carefree!

Who are your heroes in your real life?
My parents and God

What are your career goals?
I wish to work at DHS

What is your motto?
“Everything happens for a reason.” Although we may not always know the reason right away or feel good about it in the moment.

Using only two words, describe yourself
Only human

What’s one thing people wouldn’t guess about you?
I am a giant baby. I act serious and motivated, but the littlest things make me cry, especially touching life moments. People that know me have tissues ready.

Where’s your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place would have to be the cafeteria and food court. If I didn’t have class I could live at the salad place- eating the entire time, of course.

Tell me about a risk you took and what you learned about yourself
I took a risk coming back to school and getting married at a young age. I learned that I am a quick learner, and care for others much more then I have ever anticipated.

How do you determine or evaluate success?
I evaluate success by my feelings. If I feel that I have met my own standards (which are always set high) I feel successful.

Which one accomplishment are you the most proud of?
I am the most proud of my accomplishment of receiving a degree.
