Get creative with Chemeketa Makes on May 3

As part of the current Gretchen Schutte Art Gallery exhibit Celilo Falls – Center of the Universe, Chemeketa Makes will host exhibiting artist Ka’ila Farrell-Smith for an afternoon creating healing flags on Wednesday, May 3.

Healing flags, symbolic and spiritual representations of holistic healing, will be created then displayed for the whole college community.

Ka’ila is a contemporary Klamath/Modoc visual artist based in Portland. She works as an art teacher, visiting artist and is co-director for the Signal Fire Artist + Creative Agitator residency program.

“We are really excited to have Ka’ila come to Chemeketa,” says Instructor Deanne Beausoleil. “She is a wonderful teacher and one of the rising stars of the art world.”

The exhibit Celilo Falls – Center of the Universe runs through May 5.
