As the end of year comes, we take time to celebrate many of the works made by Chemeketa students.

One such event, the Student Art Show, opened on Wednesday, May 17 in the Gretchen Schuette Art Gallery. The exhibit features a wide number of media including painting, photography, sculpture, glass, and animation.

The opening reception included numerous recognition and purchase awards from college administration and the Chemeketa Classified Association.

The jurists for the show, Bush Barn Art Center gallery coordinator David Wilson and local photographer Barry Shapiro, also presented their selections for the top three pieces in the show:

  • 3rd place: “Discover” by Mariah Bazan (digital illustration)
  • 2nd place: “Vanitas ‘Ruby'” by Nicolas Gomez (photography)
  • 1st place: “Royal Court” by Amy Hurley-Purdie (digital photography)

The show runs through June 9.
