Chemeketa Community College’s work in teaching students leadership has resulted in the college being a finalist for a multinational award for sustainability.
The college is a finalist for the Campus Sustainability Achievement Award from the Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).
The project submitted for consideration in the award was utilizing the on-campus Marion-Polk Food Share Youth Farm for community service leadership courses offered through the college’s Student Retention and College Life office.
Chemeketa is a finalist alongside Johnson County Community College in Kansas and Red River College in Manitoba. The winner will be announced in October during AASHE’s conference in San Antonio, Texas.
