Chemeketa Wellness Committee Launches Training Club March 5-May 18

Starting March 5, the Chemeketa Wellness Committee will launch its 11-week training club to support employees who’d like to learn how to train for a walk or running event.

All employees are invited to participate in a way that would benefit them most. “You can attend group walks or train entirely on your own,” says Raschel Larsen, Instructor and Lifetime Wellness Coordinator. “You can participate in the training club without ever running a race.”

Why Join the Chemeketa Training Club?
  • Training Plan

    • Participants will receive a training plan for 3k, 5k, 10k or half-marathon during the first week of Chemeketa Training Club

  • Weekly Updates

    • Participants will receive weekly emails with information about training tips, nutrition strategies and strength exercises that support walking and running

  • Accountability & Prizes

    • Participants can record weekly training miles and earn prizes

    • Training miles include distances logged training for an event and are outside of daily walking steps

    • Prizes for 10, 30, 50 and 70 miles logged

  • Social Support

    • Participate in optional walks/runs with other employees

      • We will schedule 1-3 walks at different times during the week led by volunteers

        • Certain walks or runs (your choice) will include a group warm-up, strength and cool-down

  • Iris Festival Race Support

    • Chemeketa Wellness will cover half of the entry fee for the Keizer Iris Festival run series for Training Club participants who have logged at least 70 miles

    • Race options include 3K, 5K, 10K, half marathon and full marathon

    • We have selected this run series because of its location and the different distance options
