“How old are your children?” Jannie Crossler-Laird asked each of the ESOL students coloring at the table.
“My oldest, she has 12 years. Or, she is 12 years, that is correct? I keep forgetting,” replied one student, the group confirming her correction.
“In the Ukraine, you say ‘her years are 12’,” added another student, as the conversation waxed and waned over familial descriptions.
This was more than lunchtime chitchat, it’s an open-invitation opportunity to help students learning English succeed.
Craft and Conversation is back one Thursday a month now through the end of spring term. Bring your lunch and current craft project and help our ESOL students practice their
English skills. Adult coloring books and color pencils will be provided if you don’t have a craft to bring.
Check the employee event calendar on employee dashboard for potential 2018-19 event dates.
