Horticulture Program Grows for Food Pantry

Chemeketa’s Horticulture program garden classroom is flourishing with organically grown fruits and veggies, and they’re sharing the bounty with Chemeketa’s Food Pantry. The produce is brought over to the pantry within minutes of being harvested, which will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays this summer. Right now, you will find –

  • Fennel
  • Peas
  • Kale
  • Swiss Chard
  • Parsley
  • Turnips
  • Cilantro
  • Romanesco
  • Lettuce
  • Blueberries

Later this summer the bounty will include –

  • Carrots
  • Beans
  • Basil
  • Strawberries
  • Tomatoes
  • Peppers
  • Cucumbers
  • Squash
  • Eggplant
  • Potatoes

Please let our students know about this provision available to them in Bldg. 2, Rm. 176 in front of the Student Life Multicultural Center. Chemeketa’s food pantry helps students in need focus on their studies rather than how they are going to feed themselves. Each customer is able to receive up to eight items from the pantry per day.

Summer hours of operation are Monday-Thursday, 8 am-5 pm.

During the school year, hours of operation are –

  • Monday, 8 am to 5 pm
  • Tuesday-Friday, 8 am to 8 pm
  • Saturday 9 am to 4 pm
