The college provided two scholarships for the event, including one for the Fiesta Mexicana Queen winner and first runner-up princess, both presented by Elias Villegas and Diane Watson on Friday, August 3.
The Chemeketa Woodburn Center also participated in the traditional Fiesta Mexicana Parade on Saturday, August 4.
Efrain Alonso, Woodburn Center Administrative Assistant, helped organize staff and students to participate in the parade by holding banners, wearing graduation caps and gowns, giving away candy and dancing salsa in the streets.
“The highlight of Chemeketa’s participation was that our mascot Bolt was in the parade,” says Efrain. “The kids and the community loved Bolt and took pictures with him.”
Bolt also mingled with other college mascots.
Event attendees also had the opportunity to visit the Chemeketa booth and learn more about the college’s programs and services.
