POE: The Musical and symposium coming in October

The departments of English and Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) are co-hosting the world premiere staged readings of a new play, POE: The Musical, along with a campus-wide symposium.

The symposium will take place October 5 at 2:30 pm in the Building 6 Auditorium. It will feature scenes and songs performed by the entire cast, followed by a Q&A with the playwright and director, Rachel Wolf.

Performances of POE: The Musical will be held in the Building 6 Auditorium on Oct 12 and 13 at 7 pm. Right in time for Halloween, the musical celebrates the life and works of the iconic American author Edgar Allan Poe. Poe rises from the grave to repair his reputation, which had been sullied by his archrival, Rufus Griswold. With Death helping him step back into his life, Poe is able to reconcile the choices he made in order to find peace in the beyond. The cast features Chemeketa students Christa Fenton and Jackson Bailey.
