Did you know Chemeketa offers several international service learning opportunities throughout the year? Both students and employees can apply to participate in any trip, the newest one being Belize.
Applications are due November 30.
If selected, students for this trip will register for the winter 2019 term class HUM120: International Development in Action. The class will meet six Saturdays to study the concepts of international community development, poverty and public health.
Students will then travel to Belize during spring break to work with a service team for TIDE Belize, a non-profit organization in a Mayan community that provides community development and promotes environmental conservation, sustainability and public health education. The group will become part of a community, give valuable assistance, learn and have a rich cultural experience.
