On Thursday, March 7, the Oregon Community College Association (OCCA) coordinated a convoy to the capitol for OCCA’s Legislative Summit—a designated time during the Legislative Session for community college students and leaders to meet with their local legislators and raise awareness of the value community colleges have in Oregon.
During the legislative summit, community college representatives scheduled meetings with legislatures to encourage an increase in funding for community colleges. President Julie Huckestein met with nine legislatures this day.
Clackamas, Umpqua and Linn-Benton community colleges first rallied at Chemeketa before meeting Southwest, Rogue, Mt. Hood and Klamath community colleges for a march and legislative talks.
