An Evacuation Drill has been scheduled for all Chemeketa facilities on Friday April 19, 2019 at 10 am.
This evacuation drill is being used to test our emergency evacuation plans and prepare for emergencies like power failure, gas leak, fire or a human threat.
All staff, students and visitors are being asked to evacuate and report to their assigned assembly areas until an all clear message is sent.
“It is important to exercise our emergency plans to ensure the safety of our Chemeketa community,” says Kathleen Silva, Emergency and Risk Manager. “Life safety is a priority at Chemeketa and we’ll continue to work with all of you on our emergency operation plans.”
What to Expect
- Review where you should meet in case of an emergency.
- Building Evacuation Coordinators (BECs) will help guide people to their assembly areas and clear buildings. In the case of an actual emergency, BECs would report injuries and other safety concerns.
- Attendance will be taken at the assembly areas and provide to a BEC.
- An all clear message will be sent and you can return to business as usual.
This drill is one in a series of drills the college will conduct annually to prepare our community for a response during an emergency. In October there will be an earthquake drill to train on the drop, cover and hold on tasks followed by an evacuation drill.
