Chemeketa Players present “Scenes from an Execution”

The Battle of Lepanto, by Gustav Dore.

On May 10, 11, 17 and 18, the Chemeketa Players will present their spring playScenes from an Execution, by Howard Barker.

About the Play: Famed artist Galactia is commissioned to paint the Battle of Lepanto, the greatest triumph in Venetian history. When she instead chooses to paint the horror of war, Art and the State collide. Will Galactia survive as she speaks truth to power? (NOTE: The play contains adult language and brief nudity.)

In the spirit of the show, the Chemeketa Players are collaborating with local arts groups to fill the lobby with art. Show up early to see artists from the Salem Art Association, the Lunaria Gallery, Chemeketa’s Visual & Performing Arts department and more.
