Students and staff are invited to attend the May 8 suicide prevention workshop and QPR training sponsored by Counseling Services, Student Life and the Human Services Program.
QPR is a training designed to educate community members with no previous mental health experience to identify and offer support to individuals in their lives who might be at risk of committing suicide.
QPR consists of three skills –
- Questionn a person about suicide
- Persuade someone to get help
- Refer someone to the appropriate resource
By learning and practicing QPR, you will come to recognize the warning signs, clues and suicidal communications of people in trouble and gain skills to act vigorously to prevent a possible tragedy.
Light refreshments will be provided and the QPR training will be followed by an opportunity to paint rocks with messages of hope. Plan to attend all or part of the event. For questions contact firstname.lastname@example.org
