Congressman Kurt Schrader visited Chemeketa’s Salem campus May 29, receiving a brief update on the college’s use of the Second Chance Pell, Title V Developing Hispanic Serving Institutions Grant, Child Care Access Means Parent in School (CCAMPIS) Grant and federal grants supporting our College Access Programs.
The visit concluded with Congressman Schrader touring Building 20’s Machining, Drafting and Engineering programs and the Early Childhood Development Center.
Schrader District Aide Alvin Klausen, a Chemeketa alum and co-owner of Vagabond Brewing, reflected on this time as a student. “I came here right out of the military. There were people like me here,” he said. “When I transferred to OSU everyone was so young. Chemeketa holds a special place in my heart.”
