Chemeketa has expanded its career training certificates to include a new commercial truck driving program. Over the next ten years, the industry will face a nationwide, critical shortage of qualified drivers which has led to an immediate need for training and certifying new drivers. Here in the Mid-Valley, there is a shortage of nearly 400 drivers annually.
Chemeketa’s new program will prepare students for taking the state exam as well as meet new state and federal requirements for certification. The four-week program consists of 160 hours of classroom and behind-the-wheel training. Graduates can expect to find a rewarding career with great starting salaries, job security and options for local or interstate jobs.
Interested students must be a minimum of 18 years old, have a valid Oregon driver’s license, and at least one year of driving experience. For detailed information on program requirements and FAQs, visit go.chemeketa.edu/truckdriving. Program fees and tuition are $4,600. Scholarships and financial assistance are available that may cover all or part of the fees.
