Before they came to serve Chemeketa, they were uniformed and served the country. Working in a variety of programs across campus, a small group of Chemeketa employees have the unique distinction of having served in the military. Veterans of all branches of service, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy and Coast Guard, are represented at Chemeketa.

To honor the service of veterans who are college employees, Chemeketa president Jessica Howard will host a luncheon. The veterans’ luncheon will take place Tuesday, November 5 at 11:30 am, Building 9, Room 162 (TV Studio).

“My father was a naval aviator. His military service had a significant impact on the person I am today. By observing his dedication, discipline and sacrifice and the sacrifice of his peers, I’ve gained a deep appreciation for the service of all veterans,” said President Howard.

Jon Terrazas, Coordinator of Chemeketa’s Veterans, Outreach & Community Connections said, “Many college employees do not know their colleagues are veterans. I’m grateful for Dr. Howard’s efforts to bring together college employees who are veterans to recognize their military service and their service to the college and the community.  I hope we can make this veterans’ appreciation luncheon an annual tradition.”
