New Class Search FAQs

Have questions about using the new Class Search tool? Read below to find answers

How do I get to the new Class Search tool?

To access this new tool you can -

View the schedule of classes on the public website Class Search.

-OR-

Login to my.chemeketa.edu and navigate to Registration and click Class Search (Add & Drop). This will bring you to the new landing page where you can Browse Classes or Register for Classes.

Having trouble viewing Class Search?

This version of Class Search was designed to work best on a wide display, like a Tablet or Desktop, and may benefit from full-screen view on all devices. Switching to Landscape view may help when using your mobile phone. Changing the view orientation of your phone may help but sometimes shrinks parts of what you're needing to see.

I’m on my mobile phone and all I see is the Summary. How do I get to the search?

On the bottom left of the page click the Panels button, you may need to scroll down until you see it. You should see the Find Classes tab to search for classes. The Panels button allows you to toggle between the Search view and your Schedule and Course Summary views. As mentioned above, it works best on a wide display and Landscape view may help when using your mobile device. The multi-panel view can be very difficult to navigate on a mobile device.

What's the difference between Browse Classes and Register for Classes?

Both search methods are used to search and find classes. There is an important distinction between the two search methods, the Browse Classes is used to search for courses before registration opens, regardless of being logged in or not. Register for Classes is all about registration and overall schedule management. Here you can add classes, drop classes, add to waitlists, and register for classes by entering the CRN. You can only search against terms that are open for registration in this section and you must be signed in to register.

How do I view and search classes before registration opens?

Anyone can use the Class Search page on the public website to search for classes of visible terms, without needing to be signed in.  If you've signed in to my.chemeketa.edu navigate to Registration and click Class Search (Add & Drop) then click on the Browse Classes option to search for classes. This is where the full year's schedule can be viewed.

How do I search for classes after registration is open?

Then select Waitlist from the Actions drop-down and click Submit to be added to the Waitlist. The section status will then display Waitlisted.

How do I register for a class that I was waitlisted for and received notice that my spot is open?

IMPORTANT! Waitlist is time sensitive and you have 24 hrs from when you receive the email to register for the course. If you've waited too long, then you have missed your opportunity and will need to re-add yourself to the waitlist.

Navigate to your course Summary in Class Search and click into the Action section of the waitlisted course. Choose Register from the drop-down options, then click Submit to process your selection. The section status will then display Registered.

For Linked Classes (Lecture/Lab or Lecture/Lab/Recitation), you will use the Enter CRNs tab to enroll in the non-waitlisted sections in addition to selecting Register from the Action section of the course Summary

Once you have added all of your non-waitlisted CRNs to your course Summary and have selected Register in the Action drop-down, click Submit to process your selections. The section status will then display Registered across all linked sections.

Step-by-step instructions are provided on the Waitlist notification message that you will receive in your student email account if a spot opens up in the class you are waitlisted for.

Where do I find class notes?

Once you have searched for a class and are looking at the results, click on the Title of the class you are interested in. This will open the Class Details pop-up. The selections on the left-hand side provide additional information about the class. Click on the Course Description & Notes section to view the class notes.
